sorry for the long non-updates. pretty busy with life. we're moving the studio to a new location, and hopefully the studio will be complete and working by the end of may.

the opposite records' single is still not out yet, due to the fact that we're moving studios. there's been lots of interest for our recordings from the unlikeliest of sources so we'll see.

ok the tracks that will make it to our first vinyl single would be 'flames 2003' and 'group therapy 2003'. the new version of 'flames' will also be the one used for our video, which will commence shooting soon. the video will be in aide of C.H.I.L.D, an anti-child abuse non-govermental organization based here. be on the look out for it!

there are also plans to release material that we have released so far (the net album, remixes etc) on a limited-edition CD by opposite records. more news as we get them!

we moved all our tracks to a new server, no thanks to the new 3-track-only policy being practiced by mp3.com. thanks fo ajeep and the gang at malscene.net! remember that there will be 2 shows involving spacebar this month as listed above, so don't miss it!

feb 25th

as you can see our appearance at regenerate has been cancelled now that the venue has been moved back to cyberjaya. regenerate is still happening though on the 8th, without us in the bill, of course. fret not because we have another show scheduled on the 29th for beatmonkey's bassix night, so see you guys there! also DJ AZ will be making a return to DJing the week before on the 21st at Nouvo!!! get ready to rumble!!

we also have a show planned at singapore's union square for morph media's bassix nights over there, as well as another gig in june. we'll keep you posted!

feb 10th

in case you haven't notice, our gig for tempo's regenerate in the city has been postponed to march 1st. venue's still the same, it's just going to be 2 weeks later. licensing problems.

fret not though, because on february 15th the breaks&bass night with beatmonkey and the plasticvibes launching is still on at bilique in bangsar. get ready for some breaks and dnb action!

also coming out soon is the new koffin kanser album called 'positive', which we have contributed one track to, together with the band DMF. plans are underway to co-produce the next koffin kanser EP, which will venture into hard dnb/digital hardcore territory.

oh yeah, we're in the national papers today. check out the star! :)

happy new year! been really busy with the baby and stuff so not that many updates. we have a show scheduled on the 15th of february, at the viper room (the old red cafe) we're also scheduled to play at the regular dnb nights organized by loops collective at viva, as well as a gig in singapore's union square but we have no definite details at the moment.

the single is still happening, hopefully within these 2 months. need some time to re-master the tracks. our remix of teh tarik crew's 'group therapy' will be included in a singaporean hiphop compilation so look out for that as well.

nov 25th

sorry for the update delays, but i have a pretty good reason for it. my wife, dj az gave birth to a healthy baby boy on the 14th! the name's ilyas ammar, and he's one bundle of joy who loves drum n bass!

hopefully his presence will create more creative vibes in spacebar, and here's looking to more shows towards the end of the year!

oct 24th

thanks to those who tuned in to 'wicked' last thursday on red104.9. we got lots of great responses from that, especially to the bad company remix of six days.

we're spending more time in the studio now, with no shows planned until later in the year and early next year. irman and azura will be busy preparing for their own spacebar 'junior' due in december, and azmir is busy remixing butterfingers' malay-album project, dubbed 'majapahit'. track currently being remixed is called 'hanyut', although we have no idea when and if it's going to be released.

also a warm shout out to jane tan and the hongkong crew who paid us a visit last week. looking forward to playing in hongkong next year! also check out for our feature out soon in the star newspaper. thanks to michael d. for that.

the regular dnb night mentioned below probably won't be happening, now that the venue that it was supposed to be at will be closed really soon. however look out for spacebar collaborations with the beatmonkey crew, which holds semi-regular nights over at bangsar's 'bilique'. the spacebar crew will be making regular appearances there, as well as planned live performances sometime early next year.

also in the works are remixes for new local electronica act 'madu'. look out for it on red104.9!

sep 26th

whew. thus ends a high-profile month for spacebar. thanks to those who came by our shows, and thanks to the singapore crew for giving us excellent MCing together with altimet from ttc at the klue urbanscapes party.

we have at least one more show in october, hopefully opening for aphrodite when he comes by for a visit and play some tunes. we'll be hibernating in the studio until then, getting our tracks in order for the single. we're also in the middle of negotiations with a promotions company to set up another regular series of drum n bass nights in KL, but dont look into that happening until later this year or even early next year.

until then keep the scene happening!
