Rise From The Dead

Rise From The Dead rose in 1989 after then-bassist for SxOx Naoto left the band to pursue his own interest. If SxOxB's sounds were primarily grindcore plus thrashy influences (with SxOxB being one of the pioneers of grindcore, under the guidance of vocalist Tottsuan), Rise From The Dead focused on hypnotic beats, with much emphasis on programmed sounds and the occasional burst of grind and weird samples. With Tottsuan's suicide in '94 ('95?), the vocal duties of SxOxB were left vacant, and temporarily filled with guest appearances by Brutal Truth's Kevin Sharp and it wasn't until 1996 when Naoto was approached to do vocals for SxOxB, eventhough he was the main mover in Rise From The Dead at that time. At that point Rise From The Dead ceased all activities, with the odd gig here and there, mostly done without Naoto. Rise From The Dead remained quiet throughout early 1998 until they announced the re-release of Rock Fan Dead. SxOxB is currently active again, but with a much different sound, obviously to the presence of Naoto, much to many loyal fans' dislike. Now with new noise-meister Johnny and ex-Nukey Pikes Nori (plus occasional guitarist Testuro from UG Man, Volume Dealers) in the fold, the band, under major label Toshiba EMI, is starting to make waves again.
