Probably one of the more productive bands in the world, with numerous releases to their name, perhaps second only to sweden's agathocles. manic vocals, crazy guitars, manic bassline, crazy drums, you get the idea. if you ever see them play ask them for their cover of 'white christmas'!
Melt Banana is :

Yako. - voice
Agata - guitar
Rika mm' - bass
Ohshima - drums

2 men, 2 women, lots of noise. imagine John Zorn/Painkiller without a saxophone, using punk rather than jazz as a basis and being Japanese. yasuko the current vocalist was previously the bassist, and had played for other bands such as Avalanche and Zeni Geva. their previous drummer sudoh has been replaced by Satanic Hell Slaughter's ex-drummer Ohshima, and their 3rd album 'Charlie' released under HG Fact sees them approaching grind territory combined with their punk/hardcore and noise roots, with the help of Multiplex's drummer Natsume, Mike Patton and members of Plainfield. They have played together with many people, including with Merzbow as Merz-Banana and with John Zorn as Cobra Melt Banana, as well as being one of the few lucky bands in the world to have ever played live on air on the BBC's John Peel Sessions. They are currently preparing for a fall 2000 release of their new album, as well as another US tour at the same time!
