The final line-up of Grubby was :
Suzuki (guitars)
Yoshida (drums)
Yamamoto (wood bass)
Akira (vocals)

4-piece band from Tokyo, Japan, formed in 1994. Playing japanese hardcore, a genre over-used by most bands here, but somehow Grubby manages to pull it off with their originality. The roots of this band could be traced back in '93, when Suzuki and Hiroshi, then guitarist and bassist for another hardcore band Cocobat left the band due to some personal difference. Suzuki and Take-shit (the bassist and lifeline of Cocobat) could be acknowledged as the pioneers of the 'japanese hardcore' sound, not to be confused with the 'japankore' or the NYHC-influenced 'new-school japanese hardcore' sounds. Suzuki and Hiroshi later recruited current vocalist Akira and bassist Takeshi, and under the songwriting duties of Suzuki and Akira, released their first EP Stab under the influential HG Fact label, and later contributed to the Toys' Factory hardcore compilation, Extreme Hot Candy. They later released their first album Sickhead which could be identified as a very influential album in the japanese hardcore music scene, in par with Cocobat's 'Cocobat Crunch' album, and by the time their 2nd album 22 Months, bassist Takeshi and drummer Hiroshi decided to leave the band. Hiroshi later went on to forming his own band Super Stupid, a melodic punk band. Then later in mid-1996, Akira and Suzuki, the core of the band, recruited woodbass player Yamamoto (ex-Wasted) and another Hiroshi (ex-Glick) on drums, and continued to release their 3rd album Mob Boss much to critical acclaim. Their last recording was the self-produced re-recorded release of Sick Head, where they will go down in Japanese hardcore history.

Guitarist Suzuki is currently active in his new band, Pulling Teeth.
